I'm looking for a kickass recorder for my guitar. I need to be able to record a few tracks and make a cd and be able to send audio fiffles over the net. cheap price is always a plus. can you guys point me in the right direction

The best way to do it on a budget is probably to record to your computer. I have a mac and use software like Audacity and Garageband. For hardware just use a mic (shure sm series are cheap and good quality) and a firewire/high speed usb audio interface. M-Audio makes good cheap hardware. If you're willing to spend a couple extra bucks, the Apogee Duet is fantastic.

You can also directly record to your audio input port using a 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor and modeling hardware like a POD. Thats the cheapest way, but I prefer mic-ing my amp; you get more natural tone going through an amp than from a preamp straight into your computer.
