Ok this is a pretty simple question really, do you change the fingerings of a scale slightly when you start getting above the 12th fret? My fingers seem to want to, especially when playing fast but I can't help thinking I might be more efficient and thus faster if I stick to the recommended fingerings.

Thanks.

It doesn't matter what fingering you use as long as you're playing the same notes.
Actually called Mark!

Mark is essentially correct, in the sense that ultimately fingering doesn't matter that much.

But at risk of disagreeing with the mighty Mark Seagull, I think it is easier for beginners (like me) to play scales consistently. I tend to play solos better if I use the fingering patterns that I've been practicing while playing scales.
