I just saw The Roots last night, and I gotta say, they were rather impressive. Every person in the band was given a chance to freestyle solo, and even though the guitarist could shred (which shocked me, considering they are a hip-hop group), the two that really stood out were the drum solo, and tuba solo. Yes, I said it. Tuba solo. Good ish.

The Sax work in 21st century... by King Crimson is pretty amazing, not really a solo though.

I like the violin solo in "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. So well as the violin solo in "Gifts and Curses" by Yellowcard. That's the song that got me into them in the first place.
