I've got a Jackson KE3 Kelly and I'm having a weird problem with the high "e" string.
In order to tune it I need to do a power chord on the B/e strings... if I tune it to the 5th fret on the B string like usual it'll sound off when ever I go down to it when I play... like really off...

I don't see why this would be why it's doing it, but just incase, the guitar is strung with 8's, except the low E string which is a 9...

ur intonation is probably off. get a chromatic tuner and tune the B string, and hit the 5th fret and see if it rings at e exactly.
