hey!

So...
Here is the thing...
I recently bought Valve King 212.
It sounds great but it just doesn't give me the distortion I want out of it with single coils. I wanted the Invader for a long time...
But it's really rare and it's hard to get one.
Especially here in Slovenia where no one sells them.
So...I went to my friends guitar shop and he suggested me the SH-6 distortion pickup.
They're both from Seymour Duncan. So...
I can wait for the Invader (I've been waiting for it for about 1 month and a half at another shop and then they said it's not available neither in Italy.
So...maybe these guys from this shop would be able to get it for me from Germany but it will take about 2-3-4 weeks to get it. It's about 80€.
But he has the SH-6 in his shop for 100€ and I can get it this week if I want to.
So...do you say it is worth to wait for the Invader or not?
I mostly play Punk rock and a little of Hard rock(for clean stuff I have single coils).
Please help me out with this

I love my strat and I won't change it until I get money for a SG.
So I'm gonna change the pickup if you like it or not.
I asked for suggestion witch one to get.
So you think invader?

well yeah. my buddie has an invader in his and its really quite nice actually. its a great all round pickup and it looks the bees knees. i loved it, i haven't tried the sh-6 though so i cant say about that one but the invader has some realy nice sparkling cleans and it can still do the face meting distortions. i love it. my opinion of course.

invaders are crap if you ask me. you can do much better, especially in europe where duncan prices are exorbitant for what they are.

The Invader is incredible. Most of the invader hate from this site comes from people that havent even played guitars with invaders in them.
I've bought, sold, and traded more gear than I care to admit.

thank you.
I'm gonna wait for the invader I guess.
Cause I like it a lot myself too.

If by god-like you mean shit, then I agree.

They do sound nasty IMO. Lots of woolly mids, flabby bass and fizzy treble. Good for one tone only. Try to play anything other than Blink-182 and you will know why we say it is so bad.

Get the Distortion of the pair..

thanks ugmung for telling that instead of me.

Well...to answer to MrCarrot.
I play some Hard rock, red hot chili peppers and blues too.
But my main is Punk rock cuz we play that with my band and it's fun.
So I don't need a pickup great for blues but one for Punk Rock.
I only need it to work with the distortion.

No, the Invader really isn't incredible. There actually ISN'T a lot of Invader hate in this forum...I don't know what you mean.
In fact, I move that we should have more Invader hate!

threadstarter, perhaps you should look into equally great, but made in Europe pickups? I don't know what's exactly available to you....but something like the Venom from Swineshead pickups would be good for you? Check if they ship to you.

If by "god" you mean "god-awful" then yes, I agree. They're muddy, indistinct and generally appalling. They're the opposite of the Dimebucker, which is all treble. Invader is all low end sludge with no top-end therefore no clarity or definition.

Hmmm...
It would be really nice if I could try both pickups out.
But I can try only the SH-6.
damn....I really don't know what to do.
I'll go to guitar shop and ask the owner if he has any guitars(he is making only custom guitars) with the SH-6 in them.
Thanks you guys.

About the VK...
It's awesome...
But I can't tell you much about the distortion. Untill I get my humbucker.
But people say it's awesome. I guess it really is. Now it's great with not such a great distortion. But I'm sure it will become great on clean and dist.
I say...get it.
If you have the possibility try it out.

Invaders are not for every guitar. You really have to try and listen, because the wood of the guitar is one of the key elements here. I had one in the brdige of a Dean ML (basswood body) and that was a sweet combination. Not muddy at all. Besides, in general the EQ on the amp can solve mud and whatnot. Just dial it in correctly.

venom's quite bright, isn't it? i'd be looking into an xbucker or BK warpig, most likely (having tried none of those 3, lol)...

Not middy. MUDDY. As in, no clarity or note definition.

Billie Joe Armstrong uses a Gibson LP Junior I believe, a vintage one with P-90's. Tom probably doesn't use his guitars in the studio. His tone isn't great anyway...

No idea! Never used them, me being in the US and all. I just know those are the high output pickups that Swineshead offers.

I have the invader 7 string in my Washburn WG-587. The it took the decent sounding stock pickups to a complete pile of ass. The clean tone is weak, shrill and thin, the distorted tone is fizzy, weak, and thin.

High output my ass, I've heard tele's with more low end than this thing.

I'm gonna try out those SH-6 tomorrow I guess...
And probably I'm gonna get it installed too xD
But...I will try it out and see if I like it.
and then I will see if I will wait for the Invader or if I'm gonna put the Sh-6 into my guitar.
And then I'm gonna get some money for a Epi SG.

no I don't. I live in a country next to Italy but still...nobody wants to ship in it -.-
I'm really pissed cuz here I can't get the stuff I want.
I can't try anything out.
The only great thing that I can get around here are my friends custom guitars worth 2000€.
They really rock but they're 2000€...
so now I'm gonna get this humbucker and then I'm gonna get that epi SG as I mentioned b4. Or maby a LP...Idk yet.
I got 300€ left now...my parents just gave me 200€.

If you've already actually asked the people at Swineshead if they'll ship to you, and they said they wouldn't then my bad. You never said anything like that..
