Hi there,
Recently I've started learning to sweep pick.

The way I do it in tab form is like this:

---------12h17p12----------------
-----13-------------13-----------
-14---------------------14-------
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
---------------------------------

This means that I only pick the last string once per sweep.

Is it ok if I do it this way or is there any inconvenience?

Thanks

That's how I'd do it, that way my picking hand goes all the way through and I don't have to worry about it ringing out or muting it wrong.

Thanks I'll try it that way...

By the way...

The continuous motion is

---------12-17p12--------------12-17p12---------------------------
-----13-------------13-----13-------------13----------------------
-14---------------------14----------------------14----------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

or

---------12-17p12--------------------12-17p12---------------------------
-----13-------------13-----------13-------------13----------------------
-14---------------------14---14------------------14---------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------

that method is fine. learning to hammer on the last note helps a lot later on when you want to tap another note onto the sweep. when i am sweep picking, i usually pick the last note twice with an up stroke and a down stroke and then continue the sweep. i play faster when i strike the last note twice cause i don't have to put as much force on the string to do the hammer on plus i keep rhythm better in my right hand. it's just a preference they sound different. but do try it both ways cause a song may require you to sweep using the other technique and it will throw you off.

I try to pick as least as possible. It sounds cleaner and more fluid to hammer and tap.
