can it work? like if i get a pickguard like this

is it possible to color it with...a purple sharpie or something and still have the pearloid part of it?

I don't know if it's much help (or if it would actually work) but at most craft stores you can buy sheets of see-through colored vinyl. I bet you can find purple, or a few shades of purple. Some even come with a sticker bottom. The only thing is you would have to cut it to fit the shape of the pickguard. I don't know how long it would hold up though, but it's just an idea!

You're better off buying a new pickguard. Google this place called pickguard paradise...They've got tons of beautiful styles
