So I finally have a guitar with EMGs in them. I've always heard that they have no dynamics, but it's MUCH more significant then I imagined.

I think they sound amazing under high gain don't get me wrong... but playing passives for so long I guess I use dynamics more than I realized.

Anyway... its been said the blackouts have more bite and bring out the tone of the wood more yadda yadda.

Do they have more dynamics then EMGs? Do they behave more like passives?

I guess its greedy but I want the best of both worlds!

I'm going to also try the 18v mod and see if that helps.

the 18v mod makes EMGs react to dynamics better, from my short experience with them.

apparently they sound less sterile like that too...
