Is it possible to record straight off the sound card on Audacity? Rather than recording through a microphone can you just record exactly what the computer is playing?

Hope that made sense and thanks in advance for replies.

Yeah, it's in the input settings.

Edit -> Preferences -> Audio I/O

Under the "Recording" section, I'm pretty sure you have to select your sound card. Just play with it with some music or something playing in the background. I don't know what sound card you're using or what functions it has so I really can't tell you for sure.

there is a whole gargantuan thread as huge as the sex thread on this topic in the recording forum.
