I want to replace the pickups in My new S. I play alot of METAL and like Clean Sounds too. I want the pickup all sort of harmonics ( natural or Pinch) really well. Pick the Best Combination to suit my needs.

Active and passive mix. And what the hell is a 'dimarzio lead'?

TS, if you play in a low tuning, Dimarzio D Sonic will rule your world.

And what kind of metal do you play? Do you want bass or treble?

dimarzio or emg, best in the world.
www.dimarzio.com has a pickup selector that is very good, check it out!
Out here you've gotta know where your towel is!

Dimarzio D sonic with a Breed neck? D activators are cool though...you may want to consider, instead of the X2N, the Activator-x, since they seem to be less muddy.

Not by a long shot.

I second the D-Sonic/Breed set.

Neck pickup?

Yes, because metal leads are played in the neck position .
Check out the EMG 60/81. the 60 in the neck will give you great cleans while the 81 will give you a really crunching metal tone.

Oh I have an Ibanez S too made a similar thread no results. BTW, I'm looking at the Steve's Special (B) and PAF Pro (N).

the Steve is a good choice, but i'd probably pair it with an Air Norton.

For a little direction I'm (in my S) getting:
Bridge:
Seymour Duncan SH-12 (Screamin' Demon)
Middle:
DiMarzio Blue Velvet
Neck:
DiMarzio Evo Neck.

This is for versatility leaning towards a heavy 80s sound BTW.

My S series is HH, the 470 is HSH. For an 80's sound, I would go for a Super Distortion on the bridge.

Quite a lot of them... are?
#15
Yeah, mine's HSH

And I wasn't asking
I've made my mind about pickups, was just giving an example of what others (in this case me) use on their Ss.

And yeah I have to say I prefer my neck for leads (well solos mainly) in metal (such as the Sex Machineguns at least, some metal calls for the bridge).
