I'm thinking of buying a longboard skateboard to use for transportation but i dont know which are the good brands...anyone knows any?

Also, i'm moving to brazil this summer and i'm going to learn to surf, would riding a longboard help me with surf?

Loaded can't be beat for crusin'. Depending on your style I would also look into a dancer.

Sector 9 is probably your best bet for an entry longboard.

That said, I know extremely little about longboards.

Gear:
Rickenbacker 620
Vox Valvetronix AD60VTX
Snarling Dog Whino Wah
Not Enough cables
I can't relate to the never ending games you play.

Sector 9 is el cheapo and everybody has one. Don't do that to yourself.

For Decks: Sector 9, Dregs, Landyachtz, Fibreflex, Original
Trucks: Seismic, Revenge, Original, Tracker, Carver, Gullwing
Wheels: Abec 11, Sector 9, Seismic, 3dm, Alligator
Bearings: Black Panthers, Reds, or Bones

Any of these will be good for completes too.
Let me know your skill level, your budget, and what your looking to do and I'll suggest something more specific.

Edit: It will kind of help you learn to surf, but surfing can actually be much different, depending on what kind of surfing you're doing.

Oh, and don't just go buy a sector 9 complete because everyone tells you too.
It's the only brand most people know, and although it's good, you can do much better for the same price, if you put your own setup together.
