Toneports are audio interfaces, they do not have any MIDI input or output.

Emu X Boards are only MIDI controllers so you can only use them to trigger software synths and also use them as a control for your sequencing software. The thing is you can link these keyboards to your computer using USB.

I would read up on MIDI and look though the manual on that MIDI control board before buying anything...

manual for your board:

tweaks guide - MIDI:
http://www.tweakheadz.com/how_to_get_started_with_midi.html

I suggest reading though most of Tweaks guide though...not just the midi

Connect this to your computer if you REALLY want that one.

The better idea, though, is to get a USB MIDI Controller keyboard; M-Audio makes very good ones for the price like the Oxygen and Axiom.

yeh that is a usb/midi one so i wouldnt need that cable that you just linked right? so since its usb , i dont have to shell out cash for a midi interface right? so i can jus plug and play into the usb port? then record to cubase.

Yeah, just use the Emu's USB interface then. I was basing my advice on the thread name.
