System restore doesn't do those kinda files and things does it? It didn't with me- I lost all mine recently Damn iTunes.

EDIT: If you have it on an iPod or whatever you can put it back on the computer, just make sure you know what's gonna happen before plugging it in. I put mine in, something came up which I mistook for it syncing and cancelled it putting the songs back into iTunes And then it did sync and I lost everything.

So be careful!

If you emptied the recycle bin

Then you have to start again

If not, simply restore them from there obviously

If only....

Oh, well, TS, you're really up shit creek without a paddle. Just set your iPod on manual sync, plug it in and just slowly rebuild. It's happened to me two or three times.

How the hell do you accidently delete 5000 files? O.o

Come to think of it, why didn't you press cancel when it came up that they were being deleted? that way you would have lost ten at most.

Ok its really really stupid but basically I had them in my shared files and I thought they were just a copy so I deleted them all but it turns out they werent copies they were the originals =[

edit: Why doesn't doing a system restore work ???
double edit: I wanted everything to be tidy so I emptied my recycle bin

OH THE SHAME

Maybe it's my system restore settings actually, thinking about it. It might be worth a go.

System restore won't work because it's not programmed to look at "User files".

Stop doing anything on your PC NOW! Go to this page, download the application, and run it. The files are still on your HDD, just the referance in the MFT is deleted.

This application will let you undelete some, maybe most of your music. Remember though, that for every byte of data you write to you HDD now, the less likely it is that you'll be able to restore the files!

Oh, and one more thing. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT DEFRAG!

MAJOR EDIT:

You probably will need another HDD to restore the files to. an external HDD, a separate partition, a HDD based MP3 player, anything. I'd be surprised if it'll let you restore to the same partition though.
