Hey guys, ive recently just purchased the Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 50 Head to go with my Marshall 2 x 12 1936, and extremely happy with it, the tone is amazing and its loud as ****, the gain up full is very good for metal rhythms, but think i may need a overdrive pedal for the liquidity for leads, any recomendations? budget its around £50 or $100

my pedal won't do metal but it might push your amp into metal

you might want to try a Jekyll and Hyde though

well my amp is already metal, it just needs that push to get the liquid lead tones of john petrucci for instance. Like a boost, what does a boost pedal do?
#9
it just overdrives the tubes bit more .

you might wanna try my overdrive or the clean boost I'm making then cause that should overdrive your amp enough

Boss SD-1 works fantastically for a lead boost. It is pretty damn cheap too (£30/$60 roughly). You should go to a local store and try a few different OD's out.

I own it, and haven't had any problems with it being harsh

Okay, well, it gets fuzzy at loud volumes, but for it isn't too bad.

It's gonna be based on the COlorsounds overdrive which is a boutique pedal. It's a well overdrive. its not gonna be super heavy but should overdrive your amp enough to play the leads you want.

I'm thinking 70/75ish+shipping

Don't tell me that I didn't warn you a bit before you bought it. lol.
Actually, i've heard that they really rock with mods, and since you're already building your own pedals, maybe you should try modding it.
I'm referring to the SD1 BTW.

^Yeah.
Good idea.
I may sell my tubescreamer for one of your overdrives in the summer.
That's a good price for a hopefully good overdrive.

Perhaps this one? Dunno if it's what you need or not, but it can pull off a beautiful clean boost, and varying degrees of overdrive. it might get you what you need.
Do YOU know who Les Paul is?

Amps:
-Fender Stage 112 SE
Effects:

^ Yeah, the Blues Driver is sweet. Definitely one of (or the) best distortions I've heard from Boss.

I've been eyeing the MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive pedal. I haven't actually tried it, but all of the sound clips sound excellent. The reviews are pretty good too. Its $99 on Musicians Friend. Even if you wont play a single pinch harmonic through it, still check it out.

any more suggestions, kinda torn between a bad monkey and a marshall guv'nor. MXR Zakk Wylde is like £75 over hear listened to the clips and didnt like that kinda of sound too much to pay for the price.
