]PLEASE BE ADVISED: NONE OF THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN AT "PROPER" ANGLES MAKING PARTS LOOK NOT PLUMB/LEVEL/ETC. DO NOT MAKE JUDGMENTS ON CRAPPY CELL-PHONE PHOTOS

AND THE NEXT PERSON TO BASH THIS BUILD WILL BE REPORTED, NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS ABOUT IT. I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF IT. IF YOU WANT TO BASH IT, BUILD SOMETHING BETTER.

so guys, i decided after my epic phail of a flying v build earlier this year i should redeem myself. My friend gave me a big old peice of maple from when he had tried to make a reverse v in woodshop class. He was never too good with measurements and ended up making it muuuch bigger than needed so i got it and shaped it down a bit. I went for something based off of the Rhandy Rhoads V, something simple- something nice.

Oh lordy.

I thought at first you meant you planned to finish the reverse V.

However, good luck

You are gonna straighten up that right hand side on the second picture aren't you?
Looking good.

yeah, i just need to fix my belt sander first. ive been using a bench-mounted one that isn't quite long enough and i dont want to use that because i'll get an uneven edge from it.

do you own a ruler? If you can straiten it up and clean the beer****s off of the gut cut... then it will be cool.

hey now, chill out.
a) the neck is not warped, my camera phone isnt very great nor was it plumb and level when i took that picture

b) i hadn't gotten to finish out the gut cut because it was still a bit too wet.

c) as for the "ruler issue" i made it as straight as i could hold myself to. i've only got a limited supply of tools and the fact that i dont have the world's largest attention span doesnt really help.

ok ok. I didn't say the neck was warped... I;m just wondering if you are going to straighten up that side? Also how did the wood filler get to look like that?

Otherwise, sweet build I always encourage builders.

well, somebody said it was..
and yes, i will do my best to further straighten up that side. when i get it all done i'll get a real camera and take good pictures. it looks better in person than what my crappy cell phone pictures do.

So, i got a good amount of the wood filler problem straightened out and i got that one side pretty straight. Unfortunately, i'm not going to be making much progress in the next few days. I'm going to get my wisdom-teeth out and the sh!t of it is, i have 6 wisdom teeth and between that and hanging out with my girlfriend, i can't say there will be much time for guitar.

I'm not a fan of the 2 F-hole idea, i prefer just the one.
But one point, you mentioned before about you not having the longest attention span and thats why you didn't cut you side that straight. F holes, unless done very carefully, and very slowly, look crap. So imo, keep it simple and just leave it a flat top, but a decal on it if you think it looks too bare.
And with the tremelo, with limited tools, you'll run into a number of problems.
1. it needs to be routed all the way through, so a router is necessary unless your very Very skilled with a hammer and chisel, but this is not the way to go. Also, again, a lot of patients is necessary.

F holes on a flying v = IMO

it's a sustainer.

rather than attempt to draw it out by hand, does anybody know where i can get an f-hole template?

AUSTINZOR EDIT: I'm also in need of pickup suggestions.
good for anything around drop C but also good for standard tuning. i prefer passives over actives.

Seymour Duncan Sh-6, i've got one in the bridge of my custom strat, and my start does all kinds of tunings. I have it in Drop C a fair bit of the time, people look astonished at the 'metal' sound i get out of it.
But it does only sound good through a decent amp, i hated it through my old amp, but i love it now.

Not sure on the single coil though, i'm not a fan of the single coils i've got tbh
