at least you know what NOT to get, thats a great start haha.
I can't really help you, though, as i've never bought an amp for less than $800 or so.
good luck though.

and again, good for you for turning down the MG and the Line 6
i love you

why do people insist on spelling Line 6 Spider with a damn "y" instead of an "i"?

search 'fender ultimate chorus' on ebay

its seriously the best amp i've ever boughten and i have a krankenstien which i'm actually going to sell because i don't really need all that wattage

But i strongly reccommend that fender because i play metal and clean stuff also, well i pretty much play everything and i got mine used for $250. 130 watts celeston speakers. Brootal combo man check it out!

since i'm too lazy to edit my previous comment, check out my gear pics and i used it for my mp3's via a crappy computer mike, and that was the amp's distortion

Bought a B-52 AT-112 (Overdrive and clean channel with EQ and verb+60 watts all tube) demo at GC for 300.00. I am shure you could find the same deal. It has a excellent overdrive channel and all the presence you could want for the price.

$325 would be a little low for gigging

I've got a Vox Valvetronix AD30VT that retails for $250. It sounds great, has a tube preamp (its one of those 'hybrid' amps, IMO slightly better then plain solid state) and has nice tones for all kinds of rock and very acceptable cleans. Look into the Roland Microcube series also, heard good things about those.
