Hey,
I just found some new info out.

It states here: http://tubedepot.com/so-kt66.html
That this tube is electronically the same as a 6l6GC
So, could I just swap those out for these: http://tubedepot.com/jj-6l6gc.html
?

Would I have to bias since the Sovtek kt66 is electronically equivalent to 6l6gc's?

And, what brand of tube would you recommend for a smoother, deeper overdriven tone?

And BTW, I have posted in the tube thread. The responses are very slow there though, and since I want to order a matched pair very soon, time is of the essence.

Thanks!

KT88 =/= 6L6GC. end of.

There are 2 possibilities.

1 - Those Sovteks are really NOT KT66s.

2 - tubedepot is trying to convince owners with amps using 6L6s to buy their more expensive KT66s thinking they will get a "premium sounding" tube without having to re-bias.

Which one is correct? Take that up with tubedepot.com or with New Sensor corp.
If you're lucky, they might even tell you the truth.

Good luck,
