So im looking at my next guitar, im already the proud owner of a fender deluxe players strat and i want another guitar to compliment this one, but im really not sure what to try out. I only have two categories it has to be under £500 and i want a maple fretboard cause i hate the feel of a rosewood or ebony.

im into all kinds of things but the sort of music i like to write and play is artists like clapton, john mayer, red hot chili peppers, jeff buckley and hendrix.

any ideas at what guitars or at least types of guitar i should go and try out?

cheers, dudeman.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

^oh. Do you care if it's strat-shaped? Cause if you don't, maybe a DK2M? if you don't, maybe a "72 tele deluxe?

i just want something with a different tone, i was thinking maybe a telecaster or something a bit more blues/jazz

^'72 tele deluxe (the one with the 2 hb's) may be good for you. It's a little over budget, but you could save for it, right?
