I was wondering how much real difference in tone upgrading pickups will make. Right now the stock duncan designed pickups (humbuckers) are in my guitar, and I just feel like they are causing really bad tone, like flabby bass and thinness. SO do you think an upgrade in pickups would make a descernable difference? I was looking at the Stew-Mac Golden Age humbuckers

manliest string guage? barbed wire.

I'd say country or bluegrass would be pretty difficult, for being inbred is a pre-requisite

depends, amp and guitar make the biggest difference tho, but new pickups are basically just putting the final touch on your guitar

hey, you live in reading? i live like two towns over in andover! cool coincidence, eh?

anyway, which guitar are you playing? i was playing a squier with duncan designed Detonators (which are based on the SD Invaders) and decided to swap the bargain Detonators for the real thing (the Invaders.) the tone difference, however, was only marginal imo.
