I just retubed my amp and I love it but I was wondering as I was doing this..

Could I pull powertubes to get a lower power output so I could get tube clip at a lower volume?

I use it on the 50W setting and have the output on 5 and never turn the master above 4.

Don't do it. I saw someone ask about this guitar world. Let me find the mag...

In the meantime, get yourself a power attenuator. Then you can run the amp at full power for optimal perfomance, without being too loud.

I saw somewhere that you can do it but you have to change ohms....if you have the switch...
I've got the VK 212 and I'm looking to do the same cuz I never turn my volume over 2...even if I'm alone at home xD

I'd love to get an attenuator sometime, but a good one is way expensive

My priorities gear wise right now are, new guitar, because I play little metal and i have EMG's .. and then the effects I've wanted.

Dude, you have amazing gear.

Why don't you just change your pickups? You'd save cash, have the same familiar feel of your current guitar, and get an attenuator

Pull out the two outer or two inner tubes. Never both on one side.

Your outputs will be slightly different. Your 4 ohm outs will now be 8 ohms, your 8 ohms will be 16 and your 16 ohms will be 24.

Maybe I just shouldn't mess with it.

I want to save for a new guitar because..

1) I look so out of place playing pop punk/pop rock with this axe.

2) I want to keep it to play my br00talz when I do, metalcore and hardcore stuff..

3) Backup/differently tuned guitar at shows.

The Roadster has a master volume anyways. There won't be much benefit talking out power tubes.

What should I set the ouput at? 5? Max? and then master to taste?

edit; or master all the way and output to taste?

Is this safe as long as the ohms is correct, wouldn't the tubes run hot?

I think it's safe. I do it and I don't have problems.

Do you pull the two furthest away from the preamp tubes?
#16
if you have it in 50W, you're already only using 2 tubes afaik. You need to pull them in pairs too, so it doesn't work with a 2 tube 50W amp. There are also other considerations depending on the specific amp, with most it should work fine, but certain amps with higher output than rated can have problems when you pull tubes.

1) Who cares if you "look out of place". That guitar is sexy as hell.

2) Put a high output pickup (DiMarzio X2N) at the bridge, and a lower output (Air Norton maybe?) at the neck position.

3) I see your point there
