Ok, Just did a search
Couldn't find a goddamn thing

What does everyone think of this uber awesome prog/folk black metal band, Borknagar?
I've only really been listening to em for a while, but "Epic" and "Origin" are just fantastic albums. I love "The Weight Of The Wind" off of "Epic". Awesome song.

I love the perfect blend of the symphonicy/folk elements with the black metal stuff. And Vintersorg's vocals just OWN.
Great stuff.

Anyway,

Really interesting stuff.

The Weight of Wind is good.

Check out my amazing band!

I only have their self-titled, and I haven't given it many spins, but what I've heard is pretty good.

I’m not the man I used to be, I... I can’t go back to Arkham.

I... I should return to Arkham.

And you're obviously here because you fancy Phill.
Phill is a very attractive guy...

Quintessence is my favourite album. Colossus is a sick track.

Empiricism is also rather brilliant, as are all their albums. Origin is also a great album to chill out to.

I have only heard Epic, and it is fittingly named. Great album.

Any other good albums in a similar style to Epic?
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.

I have a few mp3s lying around. Really great stuff. This is one of my friend's favorite bands.

Their self-titled is good but I don't care to delve into them further than that.

Get Quintessence.
#13
I ordered both Quintessence and Epic, but I don't think my order went through for Epic, because I've been waiting for a few months now...Lol. Quintessence is extremely good though.
#16
Awesome Awesome band. Though I must say The Archaic Course is fcuking underrated godlyness. Empiricism is also excellent. I still need to listen to Epic more but it doesnt sound up to par with the aformentioned albums imho. Quintessence has some awesome tracks like Colossus but also has a bunch of meh. I bought Origin a few months ago and haven't had time to listen to it yet. As for the S/T I like the instrumentals but hate primitive black metal so I'm not a big fan. Is the Olden Domain similar to the S/T?

Borknagar slay. I actually liked Origin as much as their previous material when it came out.

I actually got into Borknagar through Origin. I loved it so much.
It was my late night music, along with Agalloch's "Ashes Against The Grain" and Opeth's "Damnation".

So, you guys reccomend Quintesscence (sp?) next?
#18
I'm really happy there are some Borknagar fans here on UG. Been listening to them for 5 hours now...

Wow, I could have sworn I've seen a Borknagar thread before... a shame that it took this damn long!

I fucking love Borknagar. I have The Archaic Course and Quintessence, (and The Genuine Pulse on a mix CD... lol.) I love both album, especially The Archaic Course. It's an epic folk metal masterpiece.

I first discovered them because of Vortex, as he's my favorite singer.

I think Vintersorg is the weak link of this band. His high cleans sound very whiny, and they destroy the epicness that is the chorus of Circled.

that's why I prefer The Olden Domain and Quintessence

Haven't heard much of his stuff, but Odemarkens Son has beautiful cleans. Too bad he doesn't perform those with Borky...
