I am looking for a new guitar neck that would:
1. have bigger upper frets (width wise) than standard strats
2. not for a baritone guitar (I believe my pocket size is about 55mm wide)
3. does not cost me an arm and a leg
4. easy playability

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

GRX or any G-series Ibanez will have wider necks and be a really competent guitar for a beginner.

are you looking for a replacement neck or a new guitar with a better neck?
gibson/epiphone sg's have narrow/skinny necks,
jumbo frets are nice(fender dont have them)
jacksons are nice, big frets and easy to play

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Right now, I can't afford anything above $200 and I'm looking for somthing that would be suitable for playing songs from Metallica, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, 3 Doors Down, White Stripes, ect.

Dude no Schecters please... the licensed trem on those are a nightmare, especially for people with Nirvana icons.
