I had been looking for something with more features and a little more power than my Epi Valve Junior (which I love by the way), and I had been leaning towards the Peavey Classic 30 for a while now.

Anyway, after seeing this thing on eBay, I couldn't resist the urge to pick it up. What do you guys think about the specific amp I bought (judging by the pictures and the description), and how do you think I did price-wise?

Good job. Especially if it comes with JJ's.
JJ EL84's and Peavey Classics go together like Lenny and Carl.

hey can you use the master volume to lower the overall volume but get tube gain? How would you do that using the pre post and other knobs?

The 'Normal' knob is your power amp volume. There is no master volume. Instead, and to achieve what you've stated you'd switch to the other channel & use the 'Pre' & 'Post' knobs.

Basically the 'Pre' is your gain and the 'Post' is the volume for that side of the amp. So for an overdriven sound at practice level you'd turn the 'Pre' up to 12 and control the volume with the 'Post' if you wanted maximum gain.

The only way to get overdriven sounds on the normal channel (power tube) is to crank it. (or use a decent OD pedal).

Hope thats a good description but haven't got time to write anymore sorry.

Very nice!

Anyone else notice how much this thing buzzes when you leave it on the overdriven channel?

It was driving my bandmates mad when we practised on the weekend.. ha.

I love my Classic 30 though =D

It does buzz a bit with single coils, but my Classic 50 only buzzes if I turn the gain all the way up at really high volumes.
