Hammerhead is free. But it's bull****. That's the only one I really know of.

You're better off getting a commercial one like fruityloops.

Acoustica Beatcraft is awesome, but it caps out at 200 BPM, and it's not free.

Well, let me rephrase. To obtain a legal copy you have to pay 40 dollars.

200??

i thought it was 320 or something

Is it possible to change the drum sounds in Hydrogen? I can only see rock and jazz sets, I'm looking to write some drum tracks for my 2-man electro outfit. Any suggestions?

Try leafDrums. Quite a good program. It's one of those 'you have to pay for it but you can still use it free' sort of programs. The initial drum sounds you get with it suck, but if you look around the net you can find some pretty cool sounds. I think it only accepts .wav files though (I've had problems trying to import anything else).
