This is my first attempt at this. It's something I quickly wrote while bored. Feel free to tear it apart. All constructive criticism is appreciated.

She looks at him,
Her eyes on fire.
Why can't he see,
What's in her heart.

He turns to her,
A smile he gives,
She looks away,
Avoids his glance .

He turns his head,
And walks away.
She missed her chance,
Afraid of it.

Chorus:
Cause she doesn't know,
Just how he feels.
And the pain that tears,
Him up inside.
And if she knew,
The heart he held,
She'd be more likely,
To run to him.

She walks away,
Tears line her eyes.
The sorrow eating,
At her inside.

Her loneliness,
It's wearing down.
The walls that she,
Built up around her.

Her soft hands quake,
She begins to cry.
Convulsing softly,
Falling to her knees.

Cause she doesn't know,
Just how he feels.
And the pain that tears,
Him up inside.
And if she knew,
The heart he held,
She'd be more likely,
To run to him.

He walks away,
His head held down.
Why can't he go,
And talk to her.

He shakes his head,
How weak he feels.
He missed a chance,
To make things right.

He shrugs his shoulders,
He laughs with friends.
But the joy he feels,
Doesn't warm his heart.

Cause he doesn't know,
Just how she feels.
And the pain that tears,
Her up inside.
And if he knew,
The heart she held,
He'd be more likely,
To run to her.

He goes home that night,
And sits alone.
Strumming chords on,
His old guitar.

He sings a song,
Of loneliness.
And wishes things,
Were so much different.

He falls asleep,
And dreams sweet dreams.
Of the two of them,
Slowly dancing.

Cause he doesn't know,
Just how she feels.
And the pain that tears,
Her up inside.
And if he knew,
The heart she held,
He'd be more likely,
To run to her.

And here they stand,
They're worlds apart.
Each afraid of the other.
And they're just too scared,
To tell the truth,
Never knowing that the other.
Feels the same way,
As their heart does.
And only wants to reach out.

They pass each other
Out on the street.
He stops her just,
To say, "Hello"

She smiles back,
And her heart beats quickly.
The words get caught up,
In her mouth.

He swallows hard,
Fights back his fear.
And asks her if,
She has some time.

He wants to know,
Just how she feels.
And purge the pain,
That tears him up inside.
He needs to know,
What heart she holds,
And so he's going,
To run to her.

She says of course,
They grab some coffee.
She laughs at all,
His stupid jokes.

He swallows hard,
This isn't easy.
But he has to tell her,
How he feels.

He says to her,
"I sort of like you,
As more than just my friend"
She smiles back,
She thinks he's joking,
But his eyes give away the truth.

She looks down,
Stares at the table.
He knows he's blown it all.
Then she looks up,
And smiles deeply.
She says, "I feel the same."

"I've felt this way,
For quite so long.
But have always been afraid to tell you."
He laughs with joy,
"I know that feeling.
I've been afraid of telling you."

They part their ways,
Agree to meet.
And have dinner later that night.
The sun feels brighter,
And the day much better.
Their loneliness has gone away.

And now they know,
How each other feels.
And the happiness,
Fills them up inside.
And know they know,
Two hearts together.
Only time will tell,
If they're meant to last.

I like the poem just because I've experienced the exact same situation. Seems more like a story than a song.... could make a good narrative maybe?

Yeah, I'm not really sure if I was going to attempt to put music to this or not. I might still, but instead of having a verse structure, it would have more of an instrumental feel. I don't know yet. Thanks for the comments though!
