Chords You Play
genre: southern rock

Verse 1:
Heading down the highway, windows rolled down
This old Cadillac is rolling me to yet another town
Gibson in the back seat, got me no regrets
Live my life on good old whiskey and a pack of cigarettes
Met a girl in Tuscon, but it didn’t last
Got a gig in old El Paso and I’m driving pretty fast
Hardly any money. It’s time to pay the toll
Sacrifice a lot of things, to play that rock n roll
Been to different places, nowhere close to home
Black T shirt and some Levis, I am a rolling stone.
Living day to day, I count the ticks of time
Gimme an axe and when I play on stage the crowd is mine

Chorus:
Daddy always told me, Son I tried to warn ya
One day you’re in Texas, next time it’s California
I know you love your music, but it doesn’t pay
You make those sacrifices for the chords you play…hey, hey

Verse 2:
Pulled up to my gig, got out the old sedan
Stepped inside the bar, shook the bar owner’s hand
Sound check was at six, show will start at ten
I’m sipping on some OJ, mixed up with a little gin
Do a little line, because I need to have that fix
My cue to hit that stage, when the drummer taps them sticks
Give you all I got, my blood, sweat, and tears
I’m giving you my music while you’re drinking up those beers
When the show is over, I shine just like a star
I get paid all that money, then I blow it at the bar

Chorus

Verse 3:
Breakfast in the morning, Truck stop is pretty busy
I like my eggs like my women. I’ll take them over easy
Got another gig, I grab a pack of smokes
Headed towards the bayou, to entertain some folks
I live my life for now, that’s why I always play
Don’t think about the future. Don’t have 4-0-1-K
One day when I die, tell them bout my story
Show them my guitar. Tell them all about the glory
In the meantime, remember what you see
A man who loves his music, come sing the song with me.

I thought the title was weak. Other than that, it was a fun piece. Imagery was great and although it's a kind of overdone story, it was enjoyable.

Nice work man, hope you stick around, you got a great feel for flow.

EDIT: Maybe "One day you’re in Texas, next time it’s California" for a title. Much more catching? I don't know. I'd have a think about the title.

Verse 1:
Heading down the highway, windows rolled down
This old Cadillac is rolling me to yet another town -----Nice
Gibson in the back seat, got me no regrets
Live my life on good old whiskey and a pack of cigarettes
Met a girl in Tuscon, but it didn’t last
Got a gig in old El Paso and I’m driving pretty fast ---- ****... your good
Hardly any money. It’s time to pay the toll
Sacrifice a lot of things, to play that rock n roll Another catchy part
Been to different places, nowhere close to home
Black T shirt and some Levis, I am a rolling stone.
Living day to day, I count the ticks of time Try changin "I count the ticks of time"..... doesnt sound good
Gimme an axe and when I play on stage the crowd is mine This one though... is pretty good...dunno how youd rhyme the last line if you changed it ...

Chorus:
Daddy always told me, Son I tried to warn ya
One day you’re in Texas, next time it’s California
I know you love your music, but it doesn’t pay
You make those sacrifices for the chords you play…hey, hey

Verse 2:
Pulled up to my gig, got out the old sedan
Stepped inside the bar, shook the bar owner’s hand Too many pauses :S.... join the sentences...
Sound check was at six, show will start at ten
I’m sipping on some OJ, mixed up with a little gin
Do a little line, because I need to have that fix
My cue to hit that stage, when the drummer taps them sticks
Give you all I got, my blood, sweat, and tears Add a my before "sweat" not for grammar but for flow....
I’m giving you my music while you’re drinking up those beers
When the show is over, I shine just like a star
I get paid all that money, then I blow it at the bar Ha ha...lovin this

Chorus

Verse 3:
Breakfast in the morning, Truck stop is pretty busy
I like my eggs like my women. I’ll take them over easy :P
Got another gig, I grab a pack of smokes How about "I grab my last smoke"....it would make me wonder... Why last???..... Probably make me think about the song more often
Headed towards the bayou, to entertain some folks
I live my life for now, that’s why I always play
Don’t think about the future. Don’t have 4-0-1-K
One day when I die, tell them bout my story
Show them my guitar. Tell them all about the glory Oooohh nice
In the meantime, remember what you see
A man who loves his music, come sing the song with me. If you ever manage to record this.... play the whole song again and sing this line with a WHOLE LOT OF ENERGY...sorry for the caps..needed to emphasize and then after the second time dont end with this line... end with the one before

Well all in all its a good song... as i guess it is.... i mean a dream most of us would love to fullfil maybe...A few errors but none that too great......Nothing else to write and i dont wanna pointlessly criticize

If you care to do mine...its in the sig.... "The Smile"

i'm a sucker from southern rock which includes the cheesy lyrics that southern rock entails. i thoroughly enjoyed reading through and it and plan to do so again, if you don't mind.
