After installing Counter Strike: Source using the easy installer version, I was instructed to do this.

Put this in your SteamApp.cfg:

SteamAppId=92
#SteamAppVersionId=0
SteamInstallPath="C:\WHEREYOUEXTRACTEDCSSOURCE"
# [Your Steam username (can be your email address if that's your login name)]
SteamAppUser=STEAMUSERACCOUNTNAME
# [Change mypassword to your Steam Password]
SteamUserPassphrase="PASSWORD"

Edit the install path, account name and password to your own.

I've found SteamApp.cfg but thats about it. I don't understand/know how to do any of it. Please explain.

alt + f4 obviously...

But in all seriousness, try what maggot said then check a CS forum and if you can't find the answer, make an account and ask it there.

Just paste it to the bottom of the config and edit it like it says.

..... How to do that? Is it in that file's properties or something?

Open it in notepad.

Open it in notepad, scroll all the way to the bottom, paste in:

SteamAppId=92
#SteamAppVersionId=0
SteamInstallPath="C:\WHEREYOUEXTRACTEDCSSOURCE"
# [Your Steam username (can be your email address if that's your login name)]
SteamAppUser=STEAMUSERACCOUNTNAME
# [Change mypassword to your Steam Password]
SteamUserPassphrase="PASSWORD"

and change install path, account name and password to whatever you have used.

Do that, except save a backup copy of the original IN CASE you somehow manage to screw it up.
Signature? What's a signature?

Yea, ALWAYS save a backup!

Edit, you do know how to open it in notepad right? If not you need to right click on it and go to Open With>Choose Program then scroll down to notepad and press OK

Ok I've done it. Gonna test it right now.

It failed. Giving me the same message it did before I changed anything.

Would you have happened to have downloaded CS:S elsewhere? Actually, scrap that, I see steam on your taskbar. Are you sure you entered the path correctly?

1. Lift toilet seat.
2. Insert CS:S CD directly into toilet.
3. Flush.
4. Buy CS 1.6 from Steam for $10.
5. Open it in notepad.
We're only strays.

This reminds me to get my money back for my copy of CS Source that would never run on my computer.
