In Will Hodgkinson's high readable book, 'Guitar Man', he writes on p.76:

"[Johnny] Marr's discovery was that you could play the same chords in different places on the neck with remarkable results. If you made the shape of, for example, a C chord and moved it up two frets, you got a D that sounded strange and unique. I tried it. It worked!"

I tried it too... nice.

Which other standard open chord shapes (not barre chords) can you move around the fretboard in a similar way to generate other interesting chords? Any examples?
