im trying to sell my Flextone II XL 100w on craigslist for $300-320, i mostly preferred cash, but a guy emailed me asking if i would trade the amp for a 2007 Fender telecaster & a Takamine EG220, is this a good deal, b/c i checked and a standard tele is $400, and the takamine is like $250-300

Your flextone is MUCH better than the MG. End of story.

If your going to sell your flextone sell it for money and save up for a better amp. Be sure to ask us if the amp isn't terrible first. Because, no offense, if you like an MG you don't 'really' have an ear for tone. Especially if your selling a flextone for one.
For those who care.
Current Gear
Cort Zenox Z42
Flextone II
Charvel USA So-Cal
Farida M2 Parlour Acoustic
Admira Hand-built Spanish Acoustic
Blackstar HT-5H

haha ok, ya you guys on here pretty much are the whiz's when it comes to gear, but really is the MG that bad?

because ive heard it and it has a nice crunch to it, plus a more gain thanb my Flexy can deliver, AND the fact that you can get a Flextone II 100w for like $170, and the MG is like $600, but the i can get it for $300

i dunno, it just seems more and more that my Flexy doesnt sound as good as i would like, maybe me ear is maturing?

Well, it truly depends on what he wants the amp for. But if its gain he wants, might I suggest saving for a new amp. You can get a solid used tube amp for the same price as the MG, and blow it out of the water (and be easier to transport). Plus, if you are running an MG, you'll get good crunch....at bedroom volume. Put it in a band situation, and it sounds harsh and ice picky. I don't know what your playing situation, but I suggest finding a tube combo of sorts

what kind of stuff do you play?

YES it is that bad. It is fizzy unfocoused bassy garbage sounding gain. I don't know who told you they sound good, but with all due respect that person has never played a real amplifier. Your ear is maturing when you decide to get a tube amp. I hate to sound arrogant and ignorant but there are much better amps than that in price range. like the TRAYONR YCV50 OR 40

^ Your ear isn't maturing or you would have realised that the Mg is crap

hahahaha...possibly true, because ive actually never HEARD the Mg in person just heard a guy use it in a studio recording of a local band near me, but it sounded ok

well im leadvocals & rhythm guitar in my church's youth student band, but at home ehh: everything from fall out boy, to maylene & the sons of disaster (southern hardcore rock), to the devil wears prada, to guns n roses, all the way to some country..so ya im pretty all-around in what i play, so im not looking for anything heavy in one particular area, except maybe great gain for the hardcore stuff i play

^ Ah, just look on Youtube if you want it hear what it really sounds like then

wow...if the video camera sound didnt make it bad, then that didnt sound good at all...i get better gainish sound from my Flexy's soldano1000(?) emulated amp haha

^ That Rob Math is an Amazing player and cna make anything sound good. It's also been post-mixed because it is, after all, a Marshall advertising video. The point is that you can get a hell of a alot better for the price

my Flexy cant give me squealys, and trust me i do them right, even friend who does them perfectly couldnt get a proper squealy on my flextone, & i clearly see the guy on the video doing them

"squealys" = pinch harmonics. Just thought I'd let you know

I'm hearing a steady *thump thump* from the people above me and I need some porno grooves to play on my bass to give them some background music. Any ideas?

Lol, well if you like Maylene and stuff but still need an amp for church go with a Bugera combo. You won't be sorry....or, you could always find a used 5150 combo, but the cleans on it are horrible

Erm, i can definately get a pinch harmonic out of my flextone...

with single coils, on a strat... as well as on an RG. Try the JCM 800 model, or the soldo - my personal favorites. The mesa would be good for it too...

Tbh, pinch harmonics are really all down to technique, rather than the amp
