I might be in the wrong thread, but I'm pretty sure there isn't music legal thread..

I want to cover "run - snow patrol", and not just cover, but rewrite it and make it different. Like what COB did to "oops i did it again" and "the girl is beautiful"

Obviously it wouldn't be released along with our EP, just a side project. (meaning no profit from it)

Is it legal for me to rewrite the song and post it on our myspace?

I think as long as you say it's a cover/tribute it should be ok right?

Although I've heard about band pages being deleted from myspace before, so you might have to email that bastard Tom and ask him.

not a parody, an arrangement. Dmusic has a license (that you don't haev to do anything at all to get) just upload your songs and it's all good. Myspace may have something similar but whatever. do it anyway, if they close you down, use Dmusic.

This just reminded me of the time that my brother in law texted his mom on the night after his wedding. All it said was "Consummated."
