turning the mids all the way down and possibly even attatching an eq pedal to turn them down more

It's scooped mids. It means that they are lowered. So the sound is mainly made up of bass and treble. The mids have been 'scooped' out.
its when your bass and treble are high but your mids are low, so it looks like a giant U sort of, like a scoop
