what do u guys rekon to the dunlop zakk wylde overdrive, i tried it a few months back when i was looking for a bluesy overdrive and it failed . but whats it like as a gritty hard rock - metal distortion, i want something to range from a bsic crunch to full of screaming br00talz. so is it good, i cos im going out tomorrow to look for a new pedal and i know the shop stocks one and i want to know whether it would e good to try or whether i would be wasting my time trying it

they seem really nice and will give you a pretty fat sound. i say go for it and get one.

take yer guitar along and ask them to try teh pedal, that way you'll know what it sounds like on your own guitar, they'll usualy have no problem letting you try them out though some have the policy of no trying pedals and effects before buy... which is lame

I own the ZW-44, and I would say that for a metal or hard-rock overdrive, it works. I mainly use it as a boost to tighten up my tube amp now, but when I had my old bass amp (just a clean channel) I used it for my distortion, and I liked it. If you have a tube amp, I would suggest looking at something else as a boost to tighten up your sound. Only problem I have with it, is that it's really noisey, but its bearable.

Another option would be the EHX Metal Muff, it won't have a nice OD sound to it, but it'll get you your metal distortion.

well my guitar is a standard stratocaster with stock strings on, and i know they stock them in that shop so no need for that, and i bought my amp from there so no need to take anything except some licks and riff to try out

Zakk actually uses his amp's gain, with the pedal there to push it into harder overdrive. You could do that if you have a valve amp, or +1 to getting a Metal Muff for teh br00talz metal.
