I saw a posting on craiglist, where someone is selling a Marshall 9000 series Stereo Tube power Amp and a Jackson JX-3 Stereo Tube Preamp for 350.

While I think it is a good deal, I also realize that not in a million years would I need something that powerufl... so should I go for it, or save the amount toward a future piece of gear (like that 7/8 string guitar I really want)?

Save up for something decent. Why waste money on crap that you're going to want to get rid of very soon when your money could go towards a good product?

if i was you i'd buy it then sell it for way more, making a profit. i guess it's kind of risky though, if you can't find any buyers.
