Hey,

A buddy of mine has an Epiphone Dot....got a chance to play it...but he only had a clean amp.

How do they sound with distortion...or higher gain?

Depends on how high gain. The sound great at med-high gain, but not metal levels. That's when they get feedbacky. It's not really for super high gain. Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother uses an ES 335, which is what the Dot is based off.

IMO, there are better semi's for the price though.

Take a look at an Epiphone Sheraton. Great guitar. I like it a lot better than any of the Dots.

Sheraton's are basically dolled-up DOTs with better pickups. All the other hardware and electronics are pretty much equal...

So if you want something that sound better than a Sheraton and plays about the same get a DOT then drop some Duncans, DiMarzio, or GHS pickups into it and orgasm. The problem is that changing pickups in a hollow body is difficult.

Que?

Not really. The Sheraton II has been made by Epiphone since 1959. It has a different tone, is bigger, and has a different feel. That's like saying that a Casino is a Dot with P-90s.

The Dot has been made by Epiphone since 1958. Go figure.

Touche for doing the research. I was under the impression that the Dot was a reissue copy of the '58 ES 335.

Doesn't change the fact that they sound, feel, and look different.

After owning an Epiphone dot. I recommend you buy the Ibanez artcore instead, When I compared the two the Ibanez stood out as a far superior guitar.
Yeah, now you're gonna die wearing that stupid little hat. How does it feel?

Help me to live.
