Dimebag Darrell used a lot of solid states when he was alive. Or so I've heard.

There have been several threads like this before. You might want to use the search bar.

Wayne Static uses (or use to use) the MG believe it or not. I'm pretty sure that Ben Moody from evanescence uses the Line6 HD147. Dave Mustaine uses Rocktron Prophesy Pre-amp which is solid state.

A lot of Jazz players like to use Solid States for the clean headroom.

No, I believe it. His tone sounds like sun baked turd.

Dimebag would be a good example.

I'm pretty sure Mick Jones used them at one point or another.

Jonny Greenwood uses a Fender 85, which is SS, for his really distorted tones. It's a good solid state though, my school has one.

Kerry has been questionable sometimes, but his tone is much too clear to be from a MG. He's used JCM 800's since day one, kiddo.

It wouldn't surprise me.. they use a pretty wide variety of tones. I bet the Vetta is useful live instead of toting around their Fenders and AC30's and Ed's Mesa.

EDIT: Cool, I found a link. http://line6.com/artists/231/

No tubes in Vettas. They're probably the best modelling solid state amp there is (also most expensive, but hey, quality costs).

Edit: The Flextones are completely solid state too. The only tube amp Line 6 has made is the Spider Valve.

Lots of pro bassists use SS gear... Bassists often enjoy large headroom.

Oh right, that might be better than the Vetta. But I had completely forgotten about it.

What amps he uses it not completely certain, but he does use a Diezel VH4 (or 2) (which are tube), and a Marshall bass amp (is it solid state? I don't know anything about it).

Lemmy? Reading about his new signature Marshall bass head somewhere, it mentioned he used Mode Four cabs but the actual amp has always been the same Marshall valve one.

Surprised nobody has mentioned The Beatles yet - Vox Super Beatle, anyone?
