How do you replace them?

Looking closely at the humbucker on my strat I can see this sort of tape around the two single coils.

I'm curious because I want to change out the covers for a different colour

Highbinder - i'm sure you could paint them as i have seen plenty of pickups that have been painted to match a custom guitar pain job - but i have no clue on what kind of paint to use.

i do not want to go on record in telling you to paint your pick ups so check out what people are doing on the 'Guitar Building and Customizing' board and see if you can determine how they are doing it. good luck

Those aren't covers, they're the actual bobbins - you can't change them.

Damn.

Not sure what I'm going to do then, because black ain't doing it for me but I don't want to change out the pickup because its quite nice - Dimarzio Tone Zone.

Paint could be a possibiliy I suppose

Heres a pic of the guitar. I'm reasonably happy with the way it looks but I bought it with the intention of changing the pickguard and pu covers for parchment white..
