My guitar makes a static noise but it stops when I place my finger in one of the screws that hold the output jack....what can the problem be?

Since there is no such thing as perfect tone, and every rig has differences (however slight they may be), I hereby declare this claim as bullshit.

could be a grounding issue, open up the guitar and check there are no loose connections or anything, if there are, solder them up

what guitar do you have?

It should clear up a bit whenever you touch the strings, pots or bridge. If it doesn't, your pickups aren't properly grounded OR your bridge isn't grounded.

It's a strat copy, it has a HB in the bridge.
