right now i own a fender MIM strat and a vox valvetronix

on the whole im happy with both but i would quite like a new guitar but to upgrade from a 400 pounds guitar i would e looking at spending around 600-700 pounds right?

and the valvetronix well, the clean tone is nice, and my overdriven tone is in the "UK 70s dial and that is all i use cos the high gain stuff is just way to muddy and fizzy and the effects i only use reverb and phaser so it is all wasted on me not being adventerous with my tone.

so i rekon i would be better getting a good tube amp like fender blues junior, or an orange amp or the laney VC30 and then getting a few awesome pedals, (overdrive, reverb and phaser) and spending the same if not less than i would on a new guitar.

your thoughts opinions and suggestions are greatly appreiciated. jimbleton

That said, it's amp shopping time. For what you play the Blues Jr would work well, try it along with the Laney and the Orange and see what you think.

Amp first! The MIM strats aren't bad at all.
Number one rule of amps: Try many
Number two rule of amps: Try them LOUD
