Theyre a pain in the ass to maintain. Breaking a string on a guitar with a floyd rose is a horrible experience. I almost cried. I enjoy my floyd rose, but i wish i had another guitar that wasn't such a pain in my ass. Especially since i use many tunings.

OFR, also known as the reason I play my Epiphone instead of my Kramer. Floyd Roses are a pain in the arse.

I love my floyd. People make it out to be complete hell to maintain it, but it is not that bad, unless you are changing tunings alot(like open tunings then standard then D standard) but mine is either in standard or dropped D(I have it so the fine tuner can be adjusted to both).

Except the arm holder breaks pretty easily.

Floyd Rose is sometimes a pain to tune. But if you have the best ones like OFR or, lo pro or edge pros, it wouldn't that hard to maintain.

If it's for your Dean, most likely. My experiences with their trems hasn't been so great and they feel really cheap to me (imo).

my guitar has a floyd rose copy on it. i wish it didnt... its a real pain and i dont use it all that much. Just about all i do with it is the occasional dive bomb.

gross generalisation, but most people who dislike floyds either (a) don't use the trem much (in which case why did you buy a guitar with a trem?), (b) have a cheapo crappy licenced copy (in which case try a good one before making your mind up), (c) prefer a more vintage tremolo (which is fair enough) or (d) change tunings a lot (which, granted, is a lot harder).
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

I hear when you bend a string on a floyd rose guitar that the adjacent strings go out of tune. i've never played one but it sounds like bad news for a guy like me that does a lot of string bends
#26
that happens on any guitar with a floating trem, not just a floyd. you can accomodate that with a slight change in technique...

True, that's one of the downsides with an FR. You learn to work your way around it, though. You just have to bend the other string a little to compensate. The only times it's actually a problem for me is when playing an open string while bending another.

Get an Ibanez. I hear BOTH RG and S series now have that system thing so the trem doesn't move during bends.
