okay, so how does one remember names of a large group of people instantly and permanently.

Example 1:
My speech teacher the first day of school had each student talk to one other student. While the class was conversing, she asked each student his or her name individually (the first day there were about 30 students total). At the end of the night (because I have that class from 7:15 to 10:00 p.m. once a week) she stood in the front of the class and pointed to each student and said their name. Every name was correct!

Example 2 (the good one!):
My history teacher was telling a story about the first time he met Jimmy Carter when he (Carter) was running for president. It was in an auditorium seating 86 people and when Jimmy walked in he met with every person individually with this line:

"Hi, my name is Jimmy Carter and I'm running for presidnet. What's your name?"
"[insert name here]"
"Nice to meet you"

He did that to EVERYBODY one at a time. After that he stood up in front of the podium and gave a brief 10 min. speech and asked if there were any questions.

*[insert name here] raises hand*
"What's your question, [insert name here]."

That happened early that election year. Then in October of that year my history teacher saw Jimmy Carter again (teacher=Phillip)

Jimmy: Hi there Phillip
Phillip (in shock): Mr. Carter, nice to see you
Jimmy: Jimmy

So anyways, does anybody know how to do that? Remember names "just like that." Also, please don't tell me you don't know who Jimmy Carter is.

I remember there was this guy and he could remember all the playing cards that were put in front of him, he said the trick was to make a story out the cards

eg.

Cards

Ace of Spades, Ace of Clubs

Story

One day Moterhead ( Ace of Spades ) met The Beatles ( Sgt Pepper Lonely Hearts Club )

Its a bit hard to explain, I hope you understand.

If you must ask, do a wiki search

Maybe it's because he was the last US president that was/is a borderline genius. Incredibly intelligent people can do incredible things. He's written something like 30 books too.

Unfortunately I can't tell you how he does it though.

Different people have different tricks, but like the card thing when I try to memorize anything, I just associate it with a stereotype or a logo I know really well. If a guy's called Lenny or something, I'll associate him with Loeb (the grocery store) and then when I see him, I think Loeb, and then Lenny. I don't know if that'll work for big crowds though.

Sarcastic sargasm is stupid.

I don't know specifically what Jimmy Carter did, but I have an idea of who he is. Canadians in comparison to Americans don't really know their own former leaders that well though.
