So I did a search and nothing relevant came up....

I have been purchasing music off itunes since December and it is just getting so expensive. So far I must have dropped about a hundred bucks on music, thats not including the vinyl I buy in record shops. I was wondering how safe limewire is. My computer is used by both my father and I for buisness purposes, and I don't want anything getting ****ed up. It has gotten to the point where I just can't afford too buy music at the rate I wish, so should I download limewire?

Limewire is not safe. It's AID's for your computer.

I use Limewire and have for a while and I've got no complaints beside the fact that some of the less popular stuff I listen to is hard to find(lots of hardcore bands or experimental/avant-garde stuff is hard to get).

I guess I got good enough anti-virus **** on my computer that I don't have to worry about the viruses or trojans

Just wait, at first it's fine, but then...death.

Torrents are the way to go for downloading. Lots of obscure stuff to be found and (almost) 100% safe. Just make sure you scan anything before you open it.

Yup, used it twice two years back. Early this year crashed.

$100? I've dropped $659 on iTunes and I'm still not complaining. Just deal with it.

Any possibilities of getting in legal trouble for downloading torrents?

Obviously it's illegal. The chance of getting caught is very, very, very small, however.

Ok.....so what is a torrent?

use RUCKUS then you can download all the albums from artists legally, then if you want to export them to your ipod get a program called Tunebite. Perfectly legal, artists still get their money, everyone is happy

EDIT: Ruckus is free too if you happen to have a school email, if not make one up

The only reason I've never really gotten into torrents is because one time I used them to download episodes of "Heroes" and I got a email from NBC.com telling me to stop it or COX will shut down my internet...blah blah blah...just want to stay on the safe side and I'm pretty cautious

All P2P stuff can get you viruses, but Limewire is terribly unsafe. Look in to torrents. You could download large amounts at time, and virus scan it all before opening and you should be all good.

Strange. That's never happened to me before, and I have assloads of music/movies/etc.

Limewire can be ok if your carefull, but mostly its not worth the risk. Torrents are the way to go. Although I believe your internet traffic is monitored through your ISP as iv had 2 warning emails about torrents. However im in Australia so it might be different in other contries. For music torrents are much more reliable, especially in terms of quality and safety from malware.

What are torrents, where can I find them?

There are loads of torrent sites, just search google. you also need a torrent client to download them, for example utorrent or bitcomet.

You need a client, such as uTorrent, or Azureus.

i have bitcomet and utorrent, and i use the pirate bay for torrents. the problem is that either the torrent doesnt work or it takes like a day or more to download a single album. ive only been able to get 2 albums off of torrents before. any suggestions?
#29
Could just be bad luck, getting low-seeded torrents. Or your firewall is blocking it.

Well first you have to download the torrent file, open with utorrent (which it should automatically), wait for it to download 100%, then (I'm not sure how you would do it because I don't use itunes but) just click add media to library or something like that and select the folder where downloaded the actual album to.

Limewire is fine if you have SOME sort of antivirus and know what not to download. For instance, don't download anything like "I cum blood girl has cute orgasm on webcam" or "WINDOZE NEYE TEE FOR".

But yeah, torrents are good for downloading albums/discographies. Save your torrents on desktop, download them with uTorrent or something, and on itunes, click "file", then "add folder to library". Be careful to check through the files to make sure it's the type of files you want (mp3, FLAC, wma, etc). The best torrent site's demonoid, but I think they shut it down or something.

Now can I drop torrent videos into itunes as well to be played on my ipod? Cough*porn*cough

Yeah, as long as they are the type of movie file supported by ipods.
