Right o lad, here's the deal. I live in melbourne and i really want to take a drive up the coast for no longer than a week. Im looking for suggestions of places that are worth a visit, be it towns, pubs, beaches whatever. All suggestions welcome.

have you been through much of vic or nsw before? there are plenty of small towns scattered about with interesting history or things to see, eg. gundagai

Yes it is. well admitedly some of it is fairly pointless but ****, think about the fuckin nullabour man that'll be worse

best idea would be to either take the great ocean road and then come up through the south east of SA which has some really good countryside (more of an old people thing i guess, lol) and then when you get to adelaide theres some awesome beaches around there and Adelaide is just completely chilled out and awesome. then theres not alot to do to be honest unless you're into wine in which case you could hit the barossa valley.

when i said either earlier on the other option is this, head north to like mildura or something and then follow the murray down to adelaide and continue as described previously. along the murray you can go wakeboarding and **** and get some awesome fresh fruit if youre into that kinda thing.

theres lots of cool stuff to do but nothing like "HOLY SHIT! DISNEY LAND!" kinda thing

EDIT: despite the whole "big" thing being popular in Australia (ie the big orange, the big banana, the giant rocking horse, etc) they all suck. just giving you a warning there.

Really can't beat Byron Bay and Nimbin areas for that in northern NSW

However just putting this out there as a Queenslander those NSW drivers feel like they're out to kill you, seriously i narrowly avoided like 6 accidents.

You have been warned.....

Blue Mountains in NSW are worth checking out.

+1

OR check out the glorious sights and sounds of Penrith.

in all seriousness going up the coast would be much better for a week long trip.

Crown casino in Syd is brilliant! If your going into sydney their is no escaping the fact you have to go there.

If your coming up to where i am in queensland at all, then an island called fraser island is worth a visit. May be a bit of a stretch to get there but, its 4 hours north of brisbane

Newcastle is always awesome... we have the Big Penis, great beaches that ships like to crash on, a night club called 'Fannys', and um... the best football team in the land!

Anyways, we here in Newcastle probably have the most laidback nature of any city in Australia, so check it out!
