Don't know if you'd class these two as hardcore, but see what you think:

Last Words - www.myspace.com/lastwordsmusic

Both from around Chester, UK area.

There are literally none in my area. The very few people who know what hardcore is in my area tend to mainly associate it with Throwdown, Hatebreed, Unearth and Terror.

That's pretty much it. We got some alright metal ones mind...

besides the already stated best hardcore bands being from where i live, check out these bands

capsule (think baroness before the red album)

furnace (heavy punkish hardcore)

ramming speed (more thrash metal but still awesome)

deathrace (xfilesx meets integrity)

im too lazy to find myspace links, they all have them though.

First of all, I enjoy deathcore for it's complexity and it's the only genre heavy enough for me

Insurgent are wank, saw them in Newport. Generic 'tough' crap but with a chick on vocals.

All good bands, check them out. Also, anyone that says Hellmouth are new hasn't been around long enough or hasn't looked hard enough.

Not a lot going on down here as far as I can tell. Devon too rural to really get anything going.

Donnie Brasco
Rat Attack
Turn Down Elliot

Those are about all I know. Can't say I'm a huge fan of any of them.

South West is terrible for hardcore or punk. I can name some decent metal bands who are fairly good from Somerset and Avon, but nothing else...

As you said, Devon must be worse

Yeah man, Devon's musical output over the past 5 or 10 years consists of Muse, Joss Stone, and, er...that's it. Oh, actually NoComply were from Plymouth.

Still, more going on than in Cornwall I guess... :

One of my best mates lives in Exeter and she went to a gig which had a fairly good turn out. How are the venues down there anyway?

To be fair there aren't too many. There are a few decent bars and clubs in Exeter (Cavern is varied but is essentially Exeter's equivalent of the Barfly)and Plymouth (White Rabbit seems to get better and better), and the Uni nightclub in Exeter gets some of the bigger hardcore and metal acts, but in between you've got 20-30 miles of hills so obviously they're a little disconnected.

There are a few kids down here into hardcore but like I say, I think it's too much of a mission for most of them to get to a show. Of course, there's good tours on once in a while but not a lot that I'm aware of by way of an actual local scene as such. Then again, I've been away at Uni for three years so I might have missed something.
