Hi folks,

I own a Yamaha AES820 drop 6 "baritone" guitar in a standard B tuning (BEADF#B). It still has its original strings on, which are the following gauges, low to high:

B - .064"W E - 0.48"W A - .036"W D - .024"W F# - .016"
B - .011"

I'd like to tune it UP to either a C or C# (so i can tune it to drop B) and was wondering if a) this is possible (I know it's not preferable to have a baritone guitar in such a high tuning, but having it in that tuning would allow me to get more use out of it) and b) what gauge strings would i need in order to do this?

An help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Andy

Shouldn't be too bad. What scale length are we talking about? My Schecter has a 26.5" scale length and it's in standard tuning, so if yours' is 27" or 28" I can't see a problem with having it in C.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah, its got a 26.25 scale length.

What sort of string gauges should i be looking at to tune it up a step??

Thanks again.

I'd say .11-.56 or something, depending on how heavy you like your bottom strings to be.
