what are some decent songs that are cover-able with just a singer & guitarist, basist and drummer?

i'm talking about to play in pubs etc, so they will have to be kind of "indie" if you know what i mean?

I was thinking like the hives - hate to say i told you so

any suggestions?

the only things i could think of are early modest mouse, maybe the violent femmes, and you can always try to make stuff like the white stripes or two gallants work if you write your own bass for each song

Cog, Wolfmother, Fuel, some Muse songs, some Pink Floyd, and most instrumental guitarists.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to put it, along with your other advice, into a book, the pages of which I will then use to wipe my ass.

The Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin.

Not really Indie I know, but a local band who I like covered it with three members and they did a really good job, plus I just love the song.

Try john the fisherman by Primus, if your bassist is good. Although it is of relitive ease...

Try some Muse and Nirvana, it would go down well in a pub still.

Bloc Party - I Still Remember, Positive Tension
Ok Go - Here It Goes Again
Snow Patrol - Spitting Games
The Strokes - Juicebox
The Subways - Oh Yeah, Rock n roll queen
The Killers - When You Were Young
Interpol - Evil
Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down, I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor
Ash - Orpheus

Before you complain this stuff isn't indie, it's what I hear getting called indie, despite the fact that it's not a real genre.

EDIT: Also, some of these songs have 2 guitar parts, but you should be able to work around that.
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.

I dont know what sort of stuff you wanna play but blink 182 were a three piece, possibly some red hot chilis songs cause they've only got only one guitarist.

A couple of three piece bands are:
Rush
The Fall of Troy
Green Day
Cream
Nirvana
The Police
ZZ Top
And how could I forget? Muse
With a name like Yakult, it has to be good. Vote Yakult.

Cream, Jack Johnson. Or you could write something? Although they're not indie.....

3 piece band = almost no stage presence. Get more members!

EDIT: He has 3 members, doesn't need anymore. He doesn't need more members.

yeah yeah they don't have to be "indie", just good for pubs

muse i could try, if i'd be able to sing it.
primus, my basist isn't amazing

and yeah dont worry if it has two guitarp arts, aslong as they aren't majorly different i can work around it.

any particular songs by these bands? some i don't listen to so i'd have to listen to a specific song that you give to see if its do-able
cheers

He doesnt NEED them, but in my experience, people would much rather see 4+ members running and jumping around on stage then three guys just standing there playing music.

Even if his band plays amazing, they have to have good stage presence. Your audience watches you as much as they listen to you, maybe even more then they listen to you.

Not particulary indie...like...at all.

But MUSE would work. And they're kinda easy listening.
