Just recieved my mega order yesterday, 2 shirts, Metazoa + EP, 2 stickers, a card for the luthier Greg Nelson and a signed 'thank you' note.

Awesome

Glad you like it! Thanks so much for your order. It really goes a long way toward helping us pay for the next album. I've recently started including little thank you notes to give a more personal touch. And since Greg gives us free stuff all the time, it's a no-brainer to help promote his work.

Hey Aurther, how zit going? I was that wierdo that started talkin to you about Heart of Ages and Omnio a longgggggg time ago.

I wanted to say your bass playing is superb, very emotive and expressive. Not a note out of place.

I'm doing very well thank you. How are you? Just getting through the finishing stages of another new song, and got the concept down for a musical experiment that to my knowledge has never been done before. Secret!

HEart and the Ages and Omnio are absolutely godly albums that I wish more people listened to. That way, when critics flail around trying to compare us to other bands, they could go straight to the source! And thank you kindly for the compliments on my bass playing. I put a lot of love into it. Sometimes I worry I overplay a bit, so it's nice to know you don't think so.

Definitely going to order the album, and probably a shirt too.

You can count on Cormorant's name being dropped by any music fan's name I come across. How about doing a show over here in Israel? Humus is on the house.
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.

I'd love to one day play in Israel and I ADORE humus. I'll put that stuff on anything. My father spent his teen years at a boarding school in Jerusalem. Many crazy stories from there, nearly getting expelled for sneaking all the desks and chairs onto the roof of the building, haha. The reality though is we can't afford international (or even significant national) touring at the moment, but in the future perhaps.

And thank you for all your support.

Arthur you guys are from the bay? Care to let me know what studio you guys recorded at? Definitely won't have the funds to record at a studio anytime soon but would be good to know for future reference.

I wish your bass a little louder in the mix on Metazoa, Arthur... but your vocals are crazy good!

Ha! A lot of people say the bass is too loud. This is Billy Anderson's production after all, and if he's known for one thing it's prominent low frequencies. I think it might be your speakers perhaps? The bass seems very present to me. Glad you enjoy the vocals.

Sharkbite Studios in downtown Oakland. Everything including an engineer for only $375 a day. Extremely professional equipment and staff. Nice location. Highly recommended.

Well it's not quiet, per se, I'm just a bassist myself and want it to be just as loud as the guitars. And there's only a few albums in existence that I think have a bass mix that I really love.

(Which would be Focus, every Atheist album, all Watchtower, Ink Complete, Blotted Science's album, and of course Cosmogenesis, if anyone cares. There's probably more that I just can't think of right now. Actually, it's really good on Opeth's first two albums, as well, and Spiral Architect's album.)

I can hear the bass just fine, although I'm curious to see how the bass sounds through the Aguilar.

Any hints on what the special preorder package will be, or will we have to wait?

Cormorant played a couple of new songs at a recent show:

10-minute long one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHlyYltr0yo

Catchy 4-minute instrumental:

They've mentioned have a 70's prog influence on the new material, which I can definitely here in both songs (moreso in the second).

EDIT: Here's another performance of the second song, at last night's show with Grayceon and Kowloon Walled City: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFxoyYQ_HGQ

The new songs sound great; thanks for posting them Scourge. Am very excited for the next album.

They from the yay. I'm gonna go see them on the 29th in San Francisco.

Metazoa is pretty damn awesome.

EDIT: Holy shit. The band members are posting here also? Hey guys. I'm looking forward to the Thee Parkside show!

Arthur is, but not that frequently it appears.

And so the thread sinks to the depths of the metal forum...

I think Hole in the Sea is pretty much the best song I've heard in a long time. The intro is pretty heartmelting. Incredible atmosphere.

Hole in the Sea also has one of the best buildups i've ever heard, that combined with the vox from Giant Squid, makes it definitely one of my fav songs on Metazoa.

Which kinda sucks, because the thread could blow up like the NeO thread if he visited more often.

I could bug him to post more on Last.fm, but I don't feel like it.

Possibly flammable opinion, but Cormorant >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NeO.

I'd say it's an insult to Cormorant to be compared to NeO.

Cormorant >>>>>>>>>> NeO for sure.

The songwriting is waaaay better, way more unique... There's oh... at least 3 minutes of just... nothing, on each song on the NeO demo. There are some great sections, then there are just sections that go nowhere and are boring.

I won't say which I prefer until NeO release their album.

This. Back when it was just The Aurora Veil and The Last Tree, it was NeO by far.

That said, I have a hard time believe the upcoming NeO album won't be awesome.
