So yea I pictured like a band member like Alexi just cruising down the highway and he pops in Blooddrunk into his car's cd player and just jamming to his band's dissapointing album.

You think bands do this? I know they probably listen to it to find things they may want to improve on or use as reference in a future album.

If they didn't would they be sell outs? So many questions....
#6
I personally don't see how I could ever listen to my own stuff for fun.

...and I liked Blooddrunk.
#9
why not? I mean people play the music that they enjoy otherwise they wouldnt be playing it right?
I listen to a demo from my old band every so often.

TAKE THAT BACK!

Yes I don't see why they wouldnt...

I could see somone from Metallica putting St.Anger on to scare away the fans or cats.

Disappointing album my ass, your thread is a disappointment.

TS, you suck along with your crappy thread!

You just pissed off one angry 08er!

I mean I could LISTEN to my own stuff but there would never be a time where I would be like "Damn I feel like rockin' out right now....LET ME PUT MY NEW ALBUM ON!!"
#14

I listen to my stuff, but I'm mainly listening for mistakes or trying to see what I can do better.

But I don't see why not. After all, most musicians probably make music that they would want to listen to. But then again, they also hear it whenever they're on stage...so really, it may depend on the musician, and whether they're sick of their own stuff.

I put demos of my band on my MP3 so I can listen to them and figure out where songs need improving.

Probably. I don't know if bands will write down their music and sell it along with an album.

I listen to my own stuff, but not for enjoyment. I hear my mistakes, or something I wanted to do differently, so for improvement mainly.

And Blooddrunk was kickass. Not they're best, but it was good.

Your mother was disappointing.

I listen to my own recordings on occasion.
I'd imagine bands do too, although they spend weeks or months in the studio perfecting each and every song and play it at 500 shows. They might not want to listen to it that much after that.
#22
I could see Metallica listening to St. Anger, having a group hug, and thinking it's the best thing they've ever done.

Thats a good question, but bands do hear their own music when they play live, so I don't really know. I would assume it just depends on the band.
Got a question about Baritone guitars? Feel free to PM me.

Thanks to UG, I converted from Metalcore to some "real" Metal.

What I mean as do they listen to it like they would with another band's album AS WELL or do they listen mainly to improve on it.
#26
Some do.

This is what happens: You make 5-10 albums and over the years your set list changes, you drop old songs so you can put on new ones etc.

Eventually you decide to switch up the set list a bit, do some old stuff you've not played in years. Then it hits you. It's been 5-10 years since you've actually played any of these songs, or even listened to them.

So you sit and listen to the songs over and over again trying to figure out how you play your own freakin song.

Most of mine are too... gets old fast listeing to Gp5 songs. So much better listening to a real recording
#30
I listen to my own stuff, I make music that I enjoy listening to. Though I can see why some wouldn't especially if they tour a lot and play the same songs every night.

I don't listen to my stuff, because I'm usually absolutely sick of hearing it after having to play it over and over during the recording process.
#40
I would think so. I mean, playing your own songs on tour, night after night, you would kind of get used to it.
