My Gear:

Epiphone Explorer (stock covered pickups)
Peavey 6505+ Head
Marshall 1960 Vintage Cab
Sonic Stomp
boss NS-2 (suppose to get rid of feed back)

The boss NS-2 helps a LITTLE... But if I turn the 6505+ past 2 I get HORRIBLE feedback when i try and palm mute it and stop the sound (common for metal) And the NS-2 doesn't start to mute till for a good second after i play...

What gear do metal head guitarists here use, so we can turn the amp up and not have to stand a frickin' mile away to play w/o feedback..

Just turn the gain down a bit, feedback has things to do with the magnets and the signals they give off and the frequencies that both the speaker and the pickups use.

The gain was on 9, so i turned it down to 7.. Still screamed like a bitch. The amp is designed for high gain death metal distortion.

I'm surprised it didn't make you go deaf... I never turn my gain past 7.

I'm not too sure about your pick-ups as I haven't used an Epi XPlorer, but judging from the shape of the Explorer, I'd say it's a sort of metal shape and I'd assume the pickups would be high output.

Your home could have many electronics around it or just a strong magnetic field, your amp could be faulty or your pedal's faulty.

Maxed out gain doesn't sound too pretty anyway, not in a home setting.

You could try switching to an ISP Decimator, I hear good things about them.
