My band has our first show soon, and I was just curious to see what the rest of UG played at their first shows. We will be playing the following:

1. Wrathchild - Iron Maiden
2. Holy Diver - Dio
3. Unleash the Bastards - Municipal Waste
4. Powerslave - Iron Maiden
5. Cry of the Black Birds - Amon Amarth
6. Angels Don't Kill - Children of Bodom

Also, what do the metalheads of UG think about our song selection?

Turn Those Clapping Hands into Angry Balled Fists - Against Me!

Bulls On Parade - Rage Against The Machine
Come Together - The Beatles
Killing In The Name - Rage against the Machine
Raining Blood - Slayer

We ended up being the backing band of this one guy, so our set for him was

G# Jam
They Love Each Other - Grateful Dead
Morning Dew - Grateful Dead

Then I ended up getting invited on stage for another band

Crossroads - Cream

All in one night, at my school's annual fund raising concert
3 originals, Master of Puppets, 2 more originals.

Just don't do it in las vegas, new york or miami. Their CSI teams will find you and hunt you down without mercy.
we played all originals for a tune which was 3 different tunes but all hacked up. it started out as a children of bodom song, which then went to a black sabbath song, and then into a slayer song.

people thought it was pretty cool. i can't remember which songs they were tho.. XD
Grammar and spelling omitted as an exercise for the reader.
I'll see if I can remember no particular order

2)You Shook Me All Night long--/
3)Beverly Hills - Weezer
4)12:51 - The Strokes
5)Kryptonite -Three Doors Down
6)Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
7)Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
8)Basketcase - Green Day
9)American Idiot - Green Day
10)Makedamnsure - Taking Back Sunday

There I got 10 of them, but it was about 20 songs total...small gig for a band of 14 years olds.
Lay Down - Priestess
2 Originals
Woman - Wolfmother
Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix
The Shakes - Priestess
White Unicorn - Wolfmother
Another 2 Originals
Eruption - Van Halen
Paranoid - Black Sabbath
8th grade talent show we played when i come around by green day, but we didn't have vocals, so it was freaking boring as hell. somehow, SOMEHOW, though we managed to win and get a nice shiny trophy.
first real like gig with people who weren't just there to see there own children though was in my garage a few months later where we played five songs.

1.When i come around cover (again, since we were kinda known with our friends for that song)
2.Sugar we're goin down cover

and then 3 originals. our originals were better than both of the covers.
My first "gig" was a battle of the bands. We wern't signed up to play but we went on stage during intermission and jammed out a random jam session. It was the bees knees.

Woah guys, this is actually the first post relevant to the thread in a LOOONG time. I applaud you Scotdizzle.

I found the damn sig thing!
It was about 25 years ago, so the memory of it is a little hazy.
I was in a duo called Pickaxe (me on bass and vocals, my mate on guitar and a drum machine) It was a set full of covers and I remember doing Paranoid, Motorhead, Train 'kept a Rollin' and a revved up distorted instrumental version of Sherly Basey's 'Hey Big Spender.'
Eventualy we got a drummer and carried on quite successfuly for another few years before all going in our own different directions.
1.) My own worst enemy by Lit
2.) There is by Boxcar Racer
3.) Letters to you by Finch
4.) Dammit by Blink 182

no one paid any attention to us with we started playing dammit then everyone was singing a long.

My first band ever? Something like this. And keep in mind that I had been playing guitar for about a year:

Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap by AC/DC
2 Minute Jam
Epiphone G-400
Ibanez RG350DX
Marshall MG50DFX
Fender Bronco
Dunlop 535Q Crybaby Wah

Two originals too I think.
American Idiot-Green day

It was in seventh grade, or maybe sixth, at the guitarists end of the year party, I played bass. It was odd because I didnt own a bass, and had never really met the drummer before....

In my current band (I'm a sophomore now) our first set list was all original plus the song "I feel Weird" by Steel Train.

We don't play any covers at all nowadays.

Enjoy occasionally controversial ramblings related to guitars? I have a blog which meets these criteria.
At our first gig (a school talent show), my band just played the intro to "Blitzkrieg Bop" over and over again for five minutes until we were dragged off the stage by some teachers. It was awesome!
