New to the board... I've been playing Guitar for years, and up to this point I have just been playing tabbed songs from other bands. Now I realize by skipping out on the theory/scale/innovation part of guitar I am not much of a guitarist, and in the long run playing other music isn't going to take me any further then I already am. Anyway, onto my problem.

I am trying to practice scales, but I keep on bumping the string below the string I am going to play. For example, if I am trying play a note on string 6, my finger will bump up against string 5 when I go to hit the note on string 6. Is this going to be a problem in the future, or is it normal?

Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close your eyes and I’ll kiss you ’cause
With the birds I’ll share...
